How to Check Umami Analytics on Your iPhone

Umami is a lightweight, privacy-friendly alternative to Google Analytics, and a lot of people run it themselves. The catch comes when you are away from your desk: the dashboard is designed for a desktop browser, and checking yesterday's traffic on a phone means logging in and zooming around. This guide covers the options, from no install at all to a native app with home screen widgets.

Three ways to read Umami on a phone

1. Mobile Safari. Open your Umami URL and sign in. Nothing to install, and every report is there, but the layout is made for a wide screen and you sign in again whenever the session expires.
2. A home screen bookmark. In Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. It saves you typing the URL; it is still the same web dashboard.
3. A native app. An app talks to the Umami API and lays the numbers out for a phone: a list of sites, big numbers, and charts you can read at arm's length.

Setting up SiteGlance

SiteGlance is an independent iPhone client for Umami. It works with both setups; if you are not sure which one you have, read Umami Cloud vs self-hosted first.

1. Install SiteGlance from the App Store.
2. Open Settings → Connections → Add connection.
3. Self-hosted: enter your Umami address (HTTPS), username and password. Umami Cloud: paste an API key.
4. SiteGlance tests the connection before saving it, so a typo shows up right there instead of later.

What you can see

• All sites with visitors, pageviews, change versus the previous period and a small trend line. Sort by visitors, live, growth or name.
• Site detail with top pages, referrers, countries and more, for today, 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
• Goals and funnels you have configured in Umami.
• Realtime: who is on your sites in the last five minutes.

Where there is no data, the app says so instead of filling the gap: an empty period shows an empty state, and a change with nothing to compare against shows a dash rather than 0% or 100%.
